You can run UFO as a standalone synthesizer with the help of SAVIhost. SAVIhost is a free nifty little program that will turn any VST plugin into a standalone synthesizer. With SAVIhost you don't need a VST host like Cubase and the likes to run UFO. SAVIhost also features a little onscreen musical keyboard in case you don't have the real thing at hand (if you want to take advantage of UFO's expressivity, we strongly recommend you use a hardware keyboard, though) The (not very) hard way is to download a zipped package from his author's website, unzip it into the same directory as your UFO plugin, rename the savihost.exe file into ufo.exe and add a shortcut in your start menu so you can launch it easily. The easy way is that we've made a little installer that will perform all these tasks for you: Download SAVIhost installer for use with UFO (Windows - 240k) Run this installer and a new menu item will appear in your start menu allowing you to run UFO in standalone mode. Note that you must install UFO plugin first (Demo or Full version), and then SAVIhost. UFO uninstaller will take care of removing SAVIhost as well. Be aware that SAVIhost is third party software that we do not own, and therefore is subject to its own license agreement. According to the terms of the license, SAVIhost freeware is limited to private use, unlike UFO. Therefore, being a UFO user doesn't necessarily entitles you to use SAVIhost as well, so please read its license agreement before using it. We only provide you with an automated setup routine for using it with UFO, as well as a link to its author's website. |
