Combining unique sound synthesis technology and a very intuitive user interface concept, UFO is a very powerful yet extremely easy to use software synthesizer that looks like nothing you've seen before... hence its name.

How it works

Thanks to our proprietary TransModal Synthesis^TM technology, you can describe the main characteristics of your sound by balancing perceptual attributes like Brightness, Periodicity, Noisiness, Resonance, Chaos or Transient duration. To do so, just click once on each screen and slider to position the corresponding cursors.

Transmodal synthesis power resides in modulation: you can modulate any of aspect of the sound character over time (with LFOs and envelopes) or depending on the way you play (velocity, aftertouch, etc). However, dealing with these hundreds of simultaneous timbre modulations UFO offers couldn't be easier. First, you select a modulation source:

Then you draw arrows to show how you want the sound to be altered by this modulation source:

To edit a modulation source, just click on it: its parameters will show in the main display

To each modulation source corresponds a color: red = envelope 1, magenta = wheel, and so on. Therefore it is very easy to have an overview of all the characteristics of your sound

Another cool feature is Morphing: simply draw magenta arrows to define the sound you will hear when the wheel is at its rightmost position. You can then use the wheel to "morph" between the default sound and this alternate sound, the characteristics of the hybrid sound being shown in real-time by magenta dots.

UFO is currently available as a VST plugin for PC (Windows) and Mac (OS X). You can also run it in standalone mode thanks to SAVIhost (available in the Download section)

Looking for Transmodal Synthesis at a very affordable price? UFO Light is for you.

Though it doesn't have all the bells and whistles that enable UFO to produce complex textures and voice-like sounds, UFO Light shares the same synthesis technology and innovative user interface concept as its big brother. It is therefore a very good way of discovering the benefits of Transmodal Synthesis, and since UFO Light presets are fully compatible with UFO, you can upgrade anytime and take your existing presets to the next level.

TransModal Synthesis relies on K-Osc, an oscillator model capable of smoothly transitioning between different oscillation modes like harmonic, noisy or chaotic, and Morphilter, a filter allowing continuous transitions between modes (low-pass, high-pass,...).For more information, you can have a look at UFO product page: UFO Light works exactly the same way.

Unlike UFO, UFO Light is shareware: you are entitled to use it freely for 30 days. The unregistered version is fully functional and remains so after the end of the evaluation period, but you are expected to purchase it if you keep using it beyond this time (once the trial period has expired the plugin will start reminding you about it).

Registration costs only 19€ ($22).
